Over a period of five to six years, an interdisciplinary meta-study on the integration of hydrogen into the North German energy system and its interdisciplinary evaluation is to be developed. Interim results will be presented annually in a position paper.
The focus of the working group is on new experimental developments. These include in particular the discovery of gravitational waves, properties of black holes, exoplanets and the formation of life as well as the emerging possibilities of performing quantum mechanical tests of gravitation with precision measurements.
Various aspects of the physics of the early universe, the topic of the closed working group "New Challenges of Cosmology", remain important. In the coming years, the constituents of dark matter could be discovered in astrophysical observations or at CERN. The same applies to the effects of primordial gravitational waves in cosmic background radiation. In this case, these questions would become the focus of the working groups activities.
