The Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg has through its members links to almost all (non-)university research institutions in Northern Germany. It provides a forum for interdisciplinary dialogue and enables cooperation between representatives of different institutions and disciplines.
By means of its Corresponding Members the Academy expands the national and international research network and lays the foundation for cooperation with other domestic and foreign research institutions.
As a member of the Union of German Academies of Sciences and Humanities, the Academy is represented in various international bodies of academies and research organizations, such as ALLEA (All European Academies), IAP (InterAcademy Partnership) or the UAI (Union Académique Internationale): https://www.akademienunion.de/en/the-union/international-relations/
In 2019, bilateral cooperation agreements were signed with the national academies of the Baltic States:
These agreements lay the foundations for future international exchanges between the respective academy members as well as early career researchers. In the longer term, a joint network of scientists will be established to foster closer cooperation in research projects.
The academy is striving to expand its international network through further cooperation agreements, especially in Northern Europe.
