Baltic State Academies
Since 2019 there have also been bilateral cooperation agreements with the national Academies of the Baltic countries:
These cooperations form the keystone for future international exchanges between the various Academy Members and younger researchers. In the longer term it is intended to establish a shared network of scientists and scholars, in order to enable closer cooperation in research projects.
The Academy is striving to build its international network even more widely through further cooperation agreements, above all in Northern Europe.
University of Hamburg
The Academy’s long-term projects in the framework of the Academies' Programme are conducted in close cooperation with the University of Hamburg. The Academy makes available to the University the resources granted from the Academies' Programme for staff and materials, while the University provides the premises needed and the technical infrastructure as its contribution.
Hamburg State and University Library Carl von Ossietzky
With the BALTIC UKH (Baltic Urban Knowledge Hubs) project, which has been co-funded by the EU as part of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region (IBSR) programme since August 2023, the Hamburg State and University Library aims to redesign the Carl von Ossietzky Reading Room as a place for historical and political knowledge transfer. There is also a local sub-project of its own: by August 2025, premises will be created in Hamburg for the interactive presentation, communication and discussion of current political, scientific and historical topics. The Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg is one of the local cooperation partners alongside the Hamburg State Centre for Political Education and the Association for Hamburg History. The premises in the Hamburg State and University Library will continue to exist beyond the end of the project and not only open to cooperation partners for events and presentations on a permanent basis.
North German Broadcasting (NDR)
The Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg and NDR Info have been working together since November 2022: Twice a year, they dedicate the "Akademie aktuell" event series to an issue that is important to many people. Scientists in the Hanseatic city discuss with experienced minds from politics and practice. As part of the collaboration NDR Info records the events in the "Akademie aktuell" series and broadcasts an abridged version of the discussion on the radio; the respective programme is also available online.
