Young Science Forum 2017

In 2017, the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg will once again invite a group of young scientists from Hamburg, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein to submit funding ideas for the hosting of interdisciplinary science conferences. The Academy will make a total of up to 10,000 euros available for the coming year, whereby a maximum of 5,000 euros can be requested per conference. The application deadline is 30 November 2016.

Applications should include the following:
- Brief outline and justification for the topic selected, the planned format and programme, and the intended target groups
- Calculation of the costs and timings for the conference programme
- Calculation for a publication outlining the conference proceedings
- Names of the planned speakers
- Tabular curriculum vitae of the applicant with a list of publications

The Academy will decide on the awarding of funding by the end of December 2016.
Applicants are essentially free in the scientific planning of the conference. The conference topic and programme must be of an interdisciplinary nature; links to existing working groups at the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg are desired.
The applying group should be of an interdisciplinary nature and comprise scientists working in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg. As a rule, applicants should have completed doctoral studies but not yet hold permanent employment at a scientific establishment and ideally be no older than 35 years of age. These conditions do not apply for the invited speakers.
The conference must take place in 2017.

Interested scientists are invited to submit an application of a maximum of 5 pages in length by 30 November 2016 to the President of the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg:

The Young Science Forum first published an invitation to tender in 2010. The aim is to foster cooperation among young scientists across the boundaries of their chosen discipline at an early stage in their careers. In previous years, countless highly regarded conferences on a variety of different topics have been held, including "Körper und Moral: Ordnungsvorstellungen in mehrheitlich muslimischen Ländern", "Sprachkritik in der Schule", "Technische Unterstützungssysteme, die Menschen wirklich wollen", "Überwachung und Privatheit in der Ära nach Snowden" and "Solidarity and its crisis in the European Union" in Hamburg, Greifswald, Kiel and Rostock.
