The academy’s long-term scientific projects are drawn up within the framework of the academies’ programme. The academies’ programme is sponsored jointly by the German Academies of Sciences and Humanties and serves to promote basic long-term research in the humanties. The main focus of the academies’ programme is on German and foreign language dictionaries, scholarly editions and bodies of text and source material.
The academies’ programme is financed as part of joint research funding by the federal and state governments currently totalling about € 68,7 million per annum. This funding at present finances 140 projects and 196 research jobs. There is only a limited budget for new projects in 2019.
